What we believe
Foundations
The Acorn Foundation works with many evangelical churches and Christians in Hungary, Slovakia and the United Kingdom. We are partners in our mission, along the following beliefs:
The Acorn Foundation is based on the fundamental truths of Christianity, as it is revealed in the Holy Scriptures, including:
- There is one God in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God is sovereign in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgment.
- The Bible, in its original form, is God's inspired and infallible Word. This is the supreme authority in all matters of faith and behavior.
- Since the case of sin, all of humanity has been sinful and guilty, so everyone is under the wrath and damnation of God.
- The Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, is fully God; born of a virgin; His human nature is real and sinless; He died on the cross, resurrected physically from the dead, and now he reigns in heaven and on earth.
- The sinful human beings are freed from the guilt, punishment and power of sin through the sacrificial death of their representative and deputy, Jesus Christ, the only mediator, made once and for all.
- Those who believe in Christ will receive the forgiveness of all their sins and will be accepted before God, solely because of the righteousness of Christ attributed to them; This justification is an act of God's unworthy grace, which they receive solely through trust in Him, not through their own efforts.
- Only the Holy Spirit makes Christ's work effective for individual sinners, enabling them to turn to God from their sins and trust in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit dwells in all those he was born again. It makes them more and more like Christ in character and behavior and gives them strength to witness in the world.
- It is a holy universal church to which all true believers belong.
- The Lord Jesus Christ returns personally to judge everyone, to carry out God's righteous judgment on those who have not converted, and to receive the redeemed into eternal glory.
